Grades are up this year at an Iowa middle school where educators have tried co-teaching. Instead of pulling struggling seventh-grade students who have special needs or are English-language learners out of mainstream classrooms for specialized instruction, instructors have been brought in to teach alongside classroom teachers, resulting in higher test scores for their students. "Students are improving academically and their confidence is up. There's a feeling of more of a belonging in the classroom," one teacher said.
