A plan to increase the amount of ethanol in U.S. gasoline is falling under scrutiny by two Republican lawmakers. Reps. Joe Barton and Greg Walden are asking the Government Accountability Office to study whether the Environmental Protection Agency's plan to impose higher ethanol blends would pose liability risks for Congress should the blends damage vehicles' engines. The lawmakers said they also want to know what research was done on ethanol's effects on engines.
