Online shoppers spent around $900 million on Cyber Monday, and sales taxes should have been paid on many of those purchases. "We don't really know how much we are losing, but the estimates are significant," said Sen. Joe Perry, D-Bangor. Perry, who is co-chairman of the Legislature's Taxation Committee, said he thinks retrieving that lost revenue should be a priority for the committee.
