At least 12 of the 23 lawmakers on the Senate banking committee indicated that they either support giving Ben Bernanke a second term as chairman of the Federal Reserve or are leaning in his favor. Christopher Dodd, chairman of the committee, said Mr. Bernanke had "done a pretty good job." Mr. Dodd said discontent with the central bank's role in the financial crisis was "misplaced." The committee will discuss Mr. Bernanke's nomination at a hearing Thursday. A vote has yet to be set.
