New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine is considering signing into law a bill to create a reading-disabilities task force to help develop policies for assessing, treating and educating students with reading or language disabilities, who make up about 85% of students in special education in the state. "We need to redouble our efforts to ensure that every child is able to read and to overcome difficulties that can lessen their future prospects for success," said a state assemblyman who co-sponsored the bill.
