Shrewd consumers have found their smartphones to be useful tools to locate the best prices on their holiday gifts and then leverage the information in negotiating with retailers, according to industry analysts who point to powerful mobile apps as the vehicle for comparison shopping. With one report saying 20% of holiday shoppers will use their cell phones this season, retailers have begun redesigning their mobile sites and sending out electronic coupons.
