A group of researchers has discovered a water- and dust-repellent coating that could make solar panels and skyscraper windows self-cleaning. The group, led by Tel Aviv University Professor Ehud Gazit, stumbled on the peptide coating while doing Alzheimer's research. Adding luster to an already exciting discovery, peptides are "inexpensive to produce as the artificial sweetener aspartame," he said.
