The Solar Impulse airplane could change the future of the aviation industry, according to Solar Impulse president Bertrand Piccard. The 72-foot-long airplane prototype runs entirely on power captured from solar cells on its wings, and it completed a maiden flight of 1,000 feet earlier this month. "If we manage to fly around the world with an airplane that takes no fuel at all, nobody will be able to say [later] that it is impossible for cars," said Piccard.
