Goldman Sachs under Lloyd C. Blankfein values profits over all else, including its customers, culture and reputation, according to some former Goldman executives interviewed for this article. The company, which previously focused on helping corporate clients raise capital, now wagers vast sums of money in world markets in a bid to turn a quick profit, according to these interviewees. In providing comment, Lucas van Praag, a Goldman spokesman, said, "This business is all about serving clients, and if you don't evolve, you die."
