Since joining Toys R Us after it was sold in 2005, chairman and chief executive Gerald L. Storch has slashed the chain's losses by purchasing specialty toy retailers such as F.A.O. Schwarz, highlighting service and getting ahead of the competition for the next big toy, such as this season's fake hamster from Zhu Zhu Pets. "Now our competitors are left competing purely by making price claims," Storch said.
