The Transportation Security Administration has extended through at least today a security directive for airlines and airports that was set to expire Tuesday. The TSA said it will issue a new directive by tonight. The heightened security measures are part of the response to the failed attempt to blow up a jetliner on Christmas Day. The current security directive includes inspecting the carry-on bags and patting down all passengers on U.S.-bound planes.
