China's vice minister of trade recently said the country will continue to expand its share of world exports, and economists outside China agree with him. Within 10 years, China's exports could account for a quarter of international trade, but the product mix is expected to be different. China's manufacturing will shift from basic industries such as steel and shipbuilding to higher-value products such as cars and computer chips, according to this Economist analysis.
