Mobile applications accounted for $4.2 billion in revenue last year -- most of it going to Apple's App Store, which holds a whopping 99.4% share of the market, according to a new Gartner report that
sees applications revenue approaching $30 billion in the next three years. Cell phone users downloaded 2.5 billion apps in 2009, Gartner says, and it estimates that Apple's inventory will double this year to more than 300,000 apps.
