Animal scientist Katrina Merkies at the University of Guelph-Kemptville in Canada, this spring plans to launch a program called Leadership Through Equine-Assisted Personal Discovery, or LEAD, to help teens develop their leadership abilities. The programs will show participants how their body language, actions and reactions send out messages, as evidenced by the horses' behavior.
