LifeSkills alternative public charter schools provide customized academic plans and access to teachers and staff to improve graduation rates among students who have dropped out of traditional schools because of learning disabilities, substance abuse or other issues. More than 680 students have earned diplomas at the school's Middletown, Ohio, campus since it opened in 2002, said the school's principal. "These kids will now have a better chance of succeeding in life because they will have their diploma," he said.
