A garage renaissance is sweeping America as "small batch" producers combine artisanal business models with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, writes Chris Anderson. New, cheaper technologies are lowering the entry barriers for world-class manufacturing, Anderson argues, allowing anyone to turn their napkin-sketches into reality. "If the past 10 years have been about discovering post-institutional social models on the Web, then the next 10 years will be about applying them to the real world," he writes.
