Researchers at United Technologies are studying blood cells that capture carbon dioxide to see how they might be used in in carbon-capture technology. Researchers plan to mimic the carbonic anhydrase enzyme in organic creatures and use it in coal-fired power plants to capture carbon dioxide. "It's a very beautiful system, but it's hard to do in a power plant," said Harry Cordatos, a United Technologies scientist.
