Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is announcing a new teaching-fellowship program to help prospective math and science teachers earn master's degrees. To participate, state universities will overhaul their teacher-training programs to ensure that teachers learn content and how to teach. The program will provide stipends for 240 teachers-in-training, and those who sign on will be required to teach for three years in certain urban districts.
