Women are drawn to health professions, particularly veterinary medicine, due in part to the work flexibility these professions can afford, Harvard University professor Claudia Goldin said in a lecture. In some cases, women's professional choices are being "largely governed by a desire for career and family and involves a trade-off between earnings and aspects of the job such as work flexibility over the year, week and day," according to Goldin.
