The recovery of the U.S. biofuels industry hangs in the balance as it awaits the Environmental Protection Agency's second draft of the renewable fuel standards, Alison Kroulek writes in this article. The first draft, which attempted to measure indirect land-use changes, ended up being unfavorable to ethanol and biodiesel, according to Kroulek. However, she notes that the second draft is expected to be more friendly to U.S. ethanol and biodiesel producers.
