Efforts to have Nantucket Sound listed as a protected tribal site could seriously hamper the Cape Wind project and jeopardize its ability to net federal subsidies worth almost $500 billion, officials warned. Local energy and environment officials said they would appeal the National Park Service's decision to protect a 560-square-mile swath of ocean, saying the move would affect not only the 130-turbine Cape Wind project, but also fishermen, ferry operators and local developers.
