More spending on highway, bridge, rail and air projects is crucial to economic recovery, says U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue. He is urging Congress to reauthorize the federal-aid highway reauthorization bill, which could pump more than $500 billion into the market. There is also $180 billion available in private capital to help depleted infrastructure, according to one study, and that could mean more than 1.5 million jobs over 10 years, Donohue said.
