The NRF Foundation and KPMG recently released the "Retail Horizons: Benchmarks and Forecasts" survey, which delves into issues such as marketing and advertising, outsourcing, pricing and merchandising. In a panel discussion at Retail's BIG Show, executives from L.L.Bean, Saks Fifth Avenue and Charming Shoppes discussed the findings. For example, Mark Fasold of L.L.Bean said the retailer had been exploring ways to use social media. He said L.L.Bean has had great success with Twitter, YouTube, customer reviews and other efforts, but that the trick is learning how to manage it.
