Some retailers debuted campaigns the day after Christmas, designed to remind shoppers to spend the gift cards they received. Gift card redemption can provide a much-needed sales boost during the post-holiday slowdown, experts say. "It's important for retailers to get people back into the stores," said National Retail Federation spokeswoman Kathy Grannis. "Getting people to redeem gift cards is even more important this year, in this economy."
