Launches of food and drink products dropped 30% last year as companies scaled back during the economic downturn, according to Mintel. Products with ethical or environmental claims bucked the trend and represented 17% of product introductions last year, up from 9% in 2008, and side dishes saw a 16% increase in product launches.
