State regulators in Maryland said they have yet to launch an investigation into allegations made last month by environmentalists that a farm that reportedly produces chickens for Perdue Farms was polluting a portion of the Chesapeake Bay. Owners of the farm reportedly have refused to permit state inspectors to take samples of an alleged pile of sewage sludge in a waterway that runs through the property in question. A state official said the farm owners have been told that the state would file a search warrant should the owners bar the sampling.
