Ethanol has become the leading alternative among renewable fuels in efforts during the last decade to decrease the country's dependence on foreign resources, writes Renewable Fuels Association communications director Matt Hartwig. In a look back at changes over the past 10 years, Hartwig notes it was the era when biofuels came of age, the federal government created policy requiring ethanol blends, and technologies and innovations improved efficiency of production.
