The Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association is warning teachers not to intervene in student fights after a teacher who was injured while breaking up a fight was denied medical compensation. Officials in England are having a similar debate over whether teachers should step in to restrain students. "If teachers feel they do not have the full support of their local authority if they get injured in such an incident, then it puts school staff in a very difficult position, and they will be less inclined to get involved," an SSTA official said.
