Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., chairman of the Senate banking committee, and Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., the panel's ranking Republican, are continuing their negotiations regarding legislation to overhaul the financial regulatory system. The two need to work out their differences before the Senate banking committee can start voting on provisions to attach to the bill. Dodd's spokeswoman said the two senators agree on many measures, but observers said they remain divided on key provisions.
