When students who are gifted in Tamara Fisher's classroom say they are having "fun" at school, they often mean they are thinking creatively or working hard on a difficult or challenging assignment, Fisher writes in this blog post. Confusing the students' perception of fun with the frowned-upon concept of entertainment instead of learning in the classroom may be unfairly undermining the serious nature of gifted education, Fisher writes.
