Some Wisconsin teachers and school officials say their budgets have been cut so dramatically that they are turning to private donations, grants and other creative options to buy classroom supplies and fund extracurricular activities. One teacher said he has used the online charity DonorsChoose.org to pay for dry-erase markers and tape. Schools also are selling naming rights to raise money, and others are engaged in fundraising campaigns. Officials warn the methods are a stop-gap -- not a solution -- to funding woes.
