A New York legislator is proposing to ban tail-docking for dairy cows in the state after seeing a video released by Mercy For Animals showing workers dragging calves and docking calves' tails at a large dairy farm in upstate New York. Some operators say the practice, which AVMA renounced in 2004, helps boost sanitation, although no research backs such a claim.
