In response to a story on questionable maintenance standards, Air Transport Association CEO Jim May says slanted reporting leaves the public with a "woefully misguided impression about airline safety." ATA member airlines "have not had a passenger fatality accident related to maintenance since 2000, or any passenger fatality accidents due to contract maintenance in the past 30 years," May writes, noting that the industry boasts a 99.9% flawless record on the issues raised by the article.
