Australian officials say they plan to expand the controversial My School Web site, which includes information on the test scores of 10,000 schools, to include the results of surveys completed by parents on individual schools and teachers. Education Minister Julia Gillard says the information will help improve teaching and learning. The president of the Australian Education Union said he is concerned that the surveys will reduce teaching to a "popularity contest," and that the Web site does not contain accurate information or valid comparisons among teachers and schools.
