All 1,300 students at a Tennessee intermediate school are using two new computer labs paid for with federal Title I funds. Students are assessed with the Measures of Academic Progress test, then begin using the Classworks program, which customizes instruction and provides student lessons in math and language arts based on their skill level. Teachers supplement the technology with traditional instruction. "As teachers, we still need to teach the students. We pull small groups of students off the computers or sometime even an individual student and work with them," one teacher said.
