The Senate hearing on the proposed budget for the Environmental Protection Agency was dominated by Administrator Lisa Jackson defending the agency's declaration that greenhouse gases pose a threat to public health. "The science behind climate change is settled and human activity is responsible for global warming," Jackson said. The EPA's budget request "reflects the science – and positions the EPA to address this issue in a way that will not cause an adverse impact to the economy," she added.
