Programs to expand nursing student enrollment to answer future nurse shortages should focus on increasing faculty, according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Baccalaureate nursing program graduates are more likely to pursue graduate studies and be qualified to serve as instructors, so federal efforts to reduce the nursing faculty shortage should focus on expanding baccalaureate and graduate degree programs, the AACN says.
