In a move to fight obesity, the FDA is considering increasing the standard serving sizes for packaged foods to reflect how much Americans eat as well as make calorie counts and other nutritional data on food packages clearer to consumers. "If people don't understand the serving, whatever number they get for fat or calories is misleading," said William K. Hubbard, a former official at the agency.
