Two fifth-grade teachers in Newport News, Va., are encouraging students to develop both sides of their brain by creating classroom spaces that appeal to artistic, creative students and to more structured learners. The teachers say the style takes a lot of planning, organization and cooperation, but the goal is to engage all students in classroom lessons.
