Teachers should be evaluated based on more than student scores, according to a National Board Certified Teacher, who believes teaching practices also should be an indicator of teacher effectiveness. In this blog post, Nancy Flanagan writes that effective teaching should not be ignored in favor of teacher assessments based solely on student test scores. "Researchers head directly toward those large, seductive test data sets and write off what happens in the classroom as a dog and pony show," Flanagan writes.
