Intel and Nokia are bringing together two Linux technologies by merging Intel's Moblin platform with Nokia's Maemo software to form MeeGo, which the companies hope will power consumer-electronics devices beyond mobile phones, such as netbooks, tablets, connected TVs, devices for cars and others. Nokia's global profit margins have begun to slip as its market share has been propped up by sales of low- and mid-end handsets, according to industry observers.
