Students with hearing impairments in a Nevada county received a visit from a Gallaudet University graduate, who gave a presentation and answered questions about college life at the world's first university for students who cannot hear. The Washington, D.C. university has about 1,100 undergraduate students, most of whom live on campus. "Students who go there don't have to worry about whether there will be an interpreter," the teacher who arranged the visit said of Gallaudet's unique learning environment. "They walk into any classroom and they know it's in sign language."
