Clark County, Ore., is home to more than 100,000 dogs, each producing an average of 2.3 pounds of waste a week, a county official said, citing data from the U.S. Census and AVMA. The weekly average adds up to 6,000 tons of waste per year that could contaminate area groundwater and local streams, said Elena Cronin who represents the county's clean water outreach program.
