Educators at a Massachusetts school are piloting a technology program that uses iPods loaded with age-appropriate applications to offer instruction in letters, numbers and shapes to 3- and 4-year-olds with and without special needs. The teachers did not provide instruction to students on how to turn on or use the devices. "Every single one of them was able to figure out how to unlock the iPod, to get into the applications, to use them, to navigate around and to get back to the home page," one of their teachers said.
