Maryland is among 20 U.S. states considering banning bisphenol A ahead of federal regulation as concern mounts over the chemical's health risks. The Maryland House unanimously approved a bill that would prohibit the manufacture, sale or distribution of BPA in baby
bottles and sippy cups marketed to children younger than 4. If enacted, the bill, which is slated for a vote in the state Senate, would take effect in 2012.
