Global wireless carriers will make a gradual transition to LTE technology by installing HSPA+ -- an advanced 3G network -- before converting their networks entirely into 4G, according to a new report from Visant Strategies, a research firm. "Carriers will need to deploy LTE to remain competitive in many cases, but today HSPA+ is an attractive choice to solve the smartphone capacity crunch many operators face due to its relatively cheaper investment," said analyst Andy Fuertes.
