Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and Sen. Richard C. Shelby, R-Ala., have been working together on legislation overhauling the financial regulatory system. Last week, Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, and Shelby, the committee's ranking Republican, reached another impasse, prompting Dodd to threaten that he will continue on his own. Knowing that a strictly partisan bill would probably not be approved, Dodd has decided to team up with Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., a first-term senator and member of the banking panel. "There's no guarantee this thing is going to work. But I'm feeling a lot better about it today," Dodd said.
