The Society for Human Resource Management has expressed concern about a proposal that would have a political appointee lead enforcement efforts at the Department of Labor. "SHRM is very interested in this development because the federal government can refuse to award contracts to any company that's violated current federal law, and I think we would be very concerned if the Obama administration used this position to take sides during organizing campaigns," says Michael Layman, manager of labor and employment legislation for SHRM.
