Spectrum Brands plans to buy Russell Hobbs, which has consumer brands that include Black & Decker, in an all-stock deal worth $661 million. The deal will create a $3 billion consumer-products company in Atlanta. Spectrum reported a net loss of $60.2 million for the first quarter of 2010, compared with a net loss of $112.6 million for the same quarter last year.
