Vincent Pero, a 17-year-old Indianapolis student who is dyslexic, was struggling as a ninth-grader to read at a third-grade level when he met teacher Danielle Frank, who also has dyslexia. Frank held him accountable for grade-level reading assignments even as he struggled with books written for fifth-graders and, along with an English teacher, worked with him one-on-one. The effort has paid off -- Pero now enjoys reading and is a more confident and engaged student.
